United Way of Central Indiana helps improve lives and build stronger communities through the support of human services programs and partners that address local needs. They assess community conditions and bring together the best resources in Central Indiana in order to provide help where it’s needed most. United Way’s priorities include sustaining vital human services for those who need help most and helping kids enter school ready to learn and graduate ready to earn.  United Way of Central Indiana supports the entire community, providing solutions that address today’s needs and reduce tomorrow’s.

For the past three years, First Electric Supply has been a major contributor to the United Way of Central Indiana.  In 2006, we received the A Company That Cares Award for our outstanding contributions and exceptional commitment to help strengthen our community.  In order to be eligible to receive this award, an organization must meet certain criteria.  First Electric met or exceeded all of the required benchmarks and we reached our goal of raising $12,000 for the United Way.  After receiving the award, our organization stands out as part of a select group that has shown special concern and compassion for Central Indiana.

Race For The Cure is a series of 5K runs or fitness walks that raises significant funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease.  The race is hosted by the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.  This organization has become the world's largest and most progressive network of breast cancer survivors and activists.  They are dedicated to curing breast cancer at every stage - from the causes to the cures and every moment in between.  The money that is raised provides community grants that finance breast health and treatment programs.

The Race has become a global series of nearly 120 Races with nearly 1.5 million participants.  Many of the employees working at First Electric Supply participated in the 2007 Indianapolis Race for the Cure.  Our team was partnered with the Clarian Health team for the 5K race.  With the help of First Electric Supply, the 2007 race was a tremendous success.  The organization had an all-time record 39,200 participants and exceeded their goal by raising $2,140,000 over the course of the year.

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) are the largest youth organization in the United States .  The Boy Scouts were formed by people who sought to promote the social welfare of young men and it is the nation's leading youth program of character development and value-based leadership training.  The Boy Scouts learn the value of self-esteem, citizenship, and outdoorsmanship through a variety of outdoor activities such as camping, aquatics, and hiking.  The BSA offers young people responsible fun and adventure, and teaches the Scouts morals and values that will shape their character for the rest of their lives.

First Electric Supply attends the Governor’s Annual Lucheon for Scouting held every December. The lucheon provides an opportunity over 1,000 business & civic leaders to hear from Indiana 's Governor about the direction of our fine state and the positive effects that Scouting is having in our communities.  The luncheon also gives the guests a chance to pledge their financial support to a premier youth development movement.  With the support of First Electric, the Boy Scouts of America hope to reach their goal of $500,000 in pledges at this year’s luncheon.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research worldwide.  Type 1 diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump.  The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.  JDRF's largest fundraising event is the nationally known Walk to Cure Diabetes.  Events are held across the country to raise awareness about type 1 diabetes and raise money to finance research.

First Electric Supply is a major supporter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Throughout the year we raise funds and collect donations to be given to the Foundation.  We also have a corporate team of 35 people that participate in the Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes in downtown Indianapolis on the campus of IUPUI.  With over 500,000 participants and 200 Walk sites nationwide, the JDRF Walk to Cure remains a family-friendly event with plenty of food, fun, and entertainment.  The First Electric family enjoys being part of the walk, and, most importantly, part of the cure!
