Indianapolis is building a new airport that will provide a gateway to millions of air travelers worldwide. Thirty years in the planning, the facility will feature a new passenger terminal, a parking garage, concourses, and airfield & apron improvements. The heart of the terminal building is a Civic Plaza , a central gathering point whose circular shape recalls the shape of the City’s central public location, Monument Circle . Although the plaza will serve the necessary functions of both security and concessions, the room is designed to incorporate artwork, provide public event space and enable visitors to sample the character of Indianapolis . The cost of the New Indianapolis Airport is approximately $1.1 billion. Construction of the new terminal building began in July 2005 and is scheduled to open in late 2008.
First Electric Supply is partially providing the light fixtures for the new passenger terminal at the airport. LightSource is the lighting representative that we are using for this project. Aside from miscellaneous materials, we are supplying the terminal with Lithonia lighting. First Electric is also playing a major role in the development of the parking garage at the new airport. We are providing all of the light fixtures for the parking garage. The contractors, Sachs Electric and Ermco, underwent a joint venture that resulted in them being awarded the airport project.
